The Elegance of Mural Kitchen
Backsplash
One of the quickest ways to personalize your cooking
environment is to add a kitchen backsplash mural. By using tile
with a crafted image on it, the area along the wall above your
countertops and above your cooking surface can become a canvas
for original art. Not only will the backsplash serve as a
protective barrier from cooking spills and intense heat, but it
can become a totally customizable area that can transform the
whole room.
A kitchen backsplash mural is one of the best
options a homeowner can do to create their ultimate
cooking area. One of the biggest advantages of choosing a
mural is that a person can get any image they want to go
into the backsplash area. Not only that, but since the
tiles are usually small, even, and easy to work with
installation for the do it yourself person is not a far
reach. Some of the disadvantages can be that you may end
up paying more for the art then the backsplash is actually
worth. Also, without good protective layers over the
artwork, damage can incur from splashing grease and very
extensive heat.
The different styles that are available are only limited by
a person's imagination. There are styles that will give a
classic Tuscan look, as well as those which depict an African
safari complete with distant trees and skyline. The first thing
to consider is the size of the area that you are working with,
and the size of the backsplash that you want. Then, when
considering the design that a person wants, make sure that the
colors coordinate with the rest of the kitchen. When looking to
remodel the whole area, it can be really nice to find a kitchen
backsplash mural to work with and pick colors and materials to
go with it. Many find that a natural scene or setting works
really well with the traditional warm and neutral colors that a
kitchen is usually done with.
A couple more points to think about is where the actual
backsplash is located. If there is a window that provides
direct ultraviolet light to the mural, you may want to consider
adding an ultraviolet protection coating to the mural. Many of
the paints and colors that are used are susceptible to fading
or lightening if they are in direct sunlight.
Being able to maintain a kitchen backsplash mural is easy if
it is kept up on. By giving the area a regular wipe down with
warm, soapy water, the brilliance of the colors on the tiles
should last pretty good. Because of the finish or sealing coat
that can be used on the mural, abrasive cleansers should be
avoided. One way to make sure that a cleaner being used will
not hurt the tile is to ask for proper maintenance information
when buying them. Since various types of paints or materials
may be used, whoever sells the tiles making up the mural should
have specific instructions that would be included with the rest
of the kitchen backsplash mural materials.
